Fine Structure of Compound Eye Surface of Korean Eristalini(Syrphidae, Diptera, Insecta)

Abstract
|
|
|
The fine structure of the compound eye surface of 10 species belong to 6 genera of Eristalini in Korea was studied with a scanning electron microscope. The results were as follows:
1. 3 genera(Eristalinus, Eristalis and Mallota) had :thin- and soft hairs on the compound eye surface and 3- genera(Helophilus, Mesembrius and Phytomia) didn´t have hairs.
2. The hair distribution exhibited a difference in each species and genera. Therefore the hair distribution on the compound eye surface was a value of taxonomy.
